A good mobile packages review is usually the starting point in lessening corporate mobile communication costs, which all have become a big line item on a large number of company spending budgets. Looking at packages regularly leads to a typical primary cost savings that is at least 20 %. Regardless of what size the corporation is, it is a significant total amount. The price savings usually do not stop right there as the plan comparison is only the preliminary step of the expense management plan meant for cellular devices.

Wireless providers advertise enterprise options as being the top deals intended for companies. Although they can be, they aren?t always. Picking out a prepackaged option designed to match all business customers oftentimes leads to spending too much money. The thing that makes this a whole lot worse is that even though business pays excessively, not all individuals have the features they want. The one person benefitting from this situation will be the carrier, who is given money for under used products.

The provider would not point it out, therefore the enterprise customer must identify the issue then do something to deal with it. A technology firm that focuses on mobile communication managing can help by doing an examination of one?s cellular phone and data packages. The results is going to pinpoint which wireless carrier or package changes are required. The auditing firm will work right with all the carrier?s networks for the greatest offer for the corporate client. Companies should acquire the solutions they require at the lowest prices. Through commissioning this audit on a consistent basis, an organization optimizes their communication costs.

A package comparison can do more than merely establish the best cellular phone plans. Furthermore, it will bring billing issues to light promptly. Companies frequently believe carriers don?t make some mistakes and as a consequence, Information technology as well as book keeping employees will not review carrier statements. The fact is that invoicing mistakes tend to be commonplace. If uncovered and taken to the attention of the company as quickly as possible, they could be corrected on time to receive a adjustment on the statement.

Service providers oftentimes try to make enterprise clients come to feel beholden towards them relating to the services getting supplied. Businesses should really keep in mind that they are the clientele in this relationship. Service providers should really be making an effort to acquire their business, not the other way round. A normal option assessment will keep service providers on their toes so they really continually make their very best plans accessible to prevent losing corporate clients. Firms can feel at ease realizing that they have the most suitable package at the lowest expense.

Information technology employees frequently execute option review as well as comparing responsibilities independently. With only a single service provider and a few phones, this task is usually quick and simple. As more service providers are added in, the volume of handsets increases, and type of handsets enlarges to include a variety of mobile phones and pc tablets, the project becomes more time-consuming and complex.

An auditing agency eliminates the burden of package comparing from central IT staff. This doesn?t mean that IT individuals must remove their selves totally out of the course of action. They simply have got another team there to validate their review, come up with recommendations relating to package optimization and even cost benefits, and offer device supervision service if needed.

Without taking a cell phone plans comparison, your company could be wasting a lot of unnecessary funds. With budgets being so tight these days, it is vital to save every dime possible. To maximize your business cell phone management, visit Gill-Technologies.com for help. Visit out site today for more information and pricing.

Infiniti finally gets serious about hybrid cars

Nick De La Torre / AP

Infiniti is attempting to spruce up its image after 23 years of struggling to develop a clear identity.

By Paul A. Eisenstein, msnbc.com contributor

Infiniti plans to lift the covers off Japan?s first battery-electric luxury car during the upcoming New York Auto Show.

Company executives suggest they expect some serious sales numbers from the new model.? But the real benefit is likely to come from credibility.? Like its parent, Nissan Motor Co., Infiniti has been slow to embrace more conventional hybrid technology.? Japanese rival Lexus already offers gas-electric options on most of its line-up. European automakers, such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, are rushing to market with their own hybrid offerings.?

So Infiniti is hoping to use the battery car, which shares the basic underpinnings of the Nissan Leaf, to position itself as a legitimate player in the global luxury market.

Since its 1989 launch -- which coincided with the debut of the far more successful Lexus -- Infiniti has struggled to develop a clear identity and claw its way out of the second tier of luxury brands.?In fact, it wasn?t all that many years ago that some analysts were speculating whether the Nissan division would even survive.

But Infiniti is back on the luxury map with a wave of distinctive designs, strong products and well-regarded powertrains.? And with the upcoming launch of the yet-unnamed battery car -- as well as the more mainstream JX crossover/utility vehicle -- this could prove to be one of the most significant years in Infiniti?s two-decade history.

If the battery car is intended to put a halo around the brand, the JX is designed to put butts in seats, as industry marketers like to say. The 3-row, 7-seat CUV fills a big gap between the smaller, sportier FX and the mammoth and costly Infiniti QX.

?We were underserving the market ? and losing people,? acknowledges Sean McNamara, Infiniti?s senior manager of product planning.?

Even with the JX, there are plenty of holes in the Infiniti line-up, cautions Aaron Bragman of IHS Automotive.?But the situation is a lot better than it was not all that long ago when Infiniti not only had fewer products but models were decidedly undistinguished.?

That began to change with the debut of the compact of the edgy FX crossover and the G-car line, which goes up against the likes of the Mercedes C-Class and BMW 3-Series.? Japanese luxury brands have had a history of playing it safe, but corporate design chief Shiro Nakamura had developed enough clout to press the boundaries, winning raves and a surge of new buyers.

?The Infiniti design language is finally coming into its own,? says analyst Bragman, ?and we?re finally seeing the differentiation between Infiniti and Nissan products.?

Nakamura continues to push the edge with concept vehicles like the Etherea, a sports car-like compact model, as well as the Emerg-E, the roundly applauded plug-in hybrid concept that made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month.

Of course, it?s critical to have the resources to back up those design efforts.? And a production version of the sleek, silver Etherea is expected in showrooms by mid-decade.? It will benefit from an expanding alliance between Nissan, its long-time partner Renault, and the German Daimler AG, parent of Mercedes.? Etherea will use the same underpinnings as the next-generation Mercedes A-Class, which also debuted in Geneva this year.

In turn, Mercedes will get a version of a small Nissan engine for use in the next C-Class.? And together, the three partners are working on advanced battery drivelines that could eventually show up in models such as a production version of the Emerg-E.

The cost of developing a small car from the ground up is significant. ?I don?t know if Infiniti would have otherwise had the resources? without the alliance, says Bragman, though he warns that it will be critical for Infiniti to differentiate the look and feel of its products and not appear to be a me-too clone of Mercedes.

If it works, the payoff could be significant.? Infiniti was already on a roll, coming out of the worst downturn the auto industry had seen in decades, sales rebounding from an 81,000 low point in 2009 to more than 103,000 a year later.? For 2011, Infiniti seemed poised to approach, perhaps even beat, its all-time record of 136,000, set in 2005.

Then disaster struck.? And, like the rest of the Japanese industry, the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami led to production cuts and serious shortages, and sales slipping to 98,461. But it could have been much worse, contends planning chief McNamara.? Nissan and Infiniti rebounded faster than most of its competitors and it has been posting strong gains during the new year.

And not just in the U.S. Until recently, Infiniti focused primarily on America, the world?s largest luxury market. But over the last several years Infiniti has been rapidly rolling out across the globe and is now operating in 46 different countries.

In an unusual move, Nissan announced plans, late last year, to move Infiniti?s headquarters to Hong Kong.? ?We see an opportunity to reinforce Asian hospitality within the Infiniti brand, distinct from both Nissan and our facing luxury competitors,? explains Nissan Executive Vice President Andy Palmer.

It will likely take a few years to see if it all pays off.? But Nissan is betting its luxury brand will continue showing momentum and could eventually climb out of the second tier ghetto.?

Is There a Doctor in the House? | Empty Nest Parenting: Grown and ...

Of all the topics I could go on about to a psychiatrist, real estate has never been on my top ten list of neurosis. However, now that I stand at the brink of a major domicile decision, I want to cry out ?Is there a doctor in the house? I need to talk about my home!?

The precipice in question is the decision of what to do with our house, the one we bought three months before we had our first child, the one my husband built a picket fence around to keep children in and evil out, the one in which we have grieved and celebrated, together, for more than two decades. Previously overflowing with family energy, it will soon become very quiet once our youngest leaves for college; that day will arrive sooner than I could have possibly imagined when we moved in.

I might babble to the dear doctor about my happy childhood and tell of the sweet nostalgia that fills me up whenever I visit my out -of -state mother, two or three times a year. Witnessing her joy when she has her complete family in residence defines maternal love to me.

But I wonder, is it our duty to our kids to keep our house exactly as it is for them to return home to, and, someday, to bring their future spouses and children? Just like our parents did?

My widowed mother loves her home of forty-five years, especially when it is filled with her children and grandchildren. But as our time together ends, I wave goodbye to an eighty-five year old woman whose house fits her a bit like an overcoat a size too big. My heart breaks and a have a knot in my throat as we drive away. Back home, I fret about her wellbeing but understand that she has no plans to live anywhere else unless and until her health forces that decision.

My mother-in-law felt the same way throughout her ninety-one years, the last ten of which she also spent alone.

I have loved making our house-into-a?home, along with my husband, and I will be the first one to reach for the Kleenex on the day we move out. What I want, though, is to have a chance to create a second family home, also with my husband, while we are still ?young? (don?t laugh, kids) enough to manage the transition.

So as I wind down my chat with my imaginary therapist, I know I am dealing with guilt, and I appreciate this session.

?Doc, but if we promise to create space for our progeny and to, somehow, embrace all future additions to the family, do you think they will forgive us for wanting to move to a house that works best for a two rather than a four? If not, are you taking new patients??

PFT: Sanchez is the key to making this work

Two years ago, I loudly supported the idea that sudden-death overtime places too much emphasis on the coin flip.

And so the adjustment of the postseason overtime rule was a welcome change, even though I still think that, in a playoff game, the team that kicks off should have a chance to match a touchdown scored by the team that has the first possession.

That said, I?m not sure that the elimination of sudden death is the best way to deal with overtime in a regular-season game.

It will make the regular-season games longer, by extending any game in which the team that receives the opening kickoff scores a field goal on the first drive.? Longer games aren?t necessarily an issue in the postseason, since the gap between the starting times is a full 3.5 hours.? In the regular season, it means that some early games will stretch too far into the 4:15 p.m. ET contests and, even worse, that some late-afternoon games will infringe on too much of NBC?s Football Night in America.

Also, longer regular-season games result in more opportunities for player injuries.

Also, there will be more ties, which can wreak havoc on the standings and the playoff possibilities.

Then there?s the fact that last season?s adjustment in the kickoff point, from the 30 to the 35, makes it less likely that the team that wins the coin toss will return the kick to the 40, string together a couple first downs, and win the game on a 50-yard field goal.

So, while I still support the current rules in the postseason, I?m not so sure I like applying the rule to the regular season.

For more analysis of that rule change and the other rules that were, or weren?t changed, he?s the opening segment of Wednesday?s PFT Live.

WDW Radio Kids & Teens Day: Kingdom Keepers 3 & 4 Recap ...

By: Admin on Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

by Jonah H.

?Sup bloggers! Jonah H. here. Congrats to Lucas for correctly answering my last question. Chernabog was defeated when the sun came up.

Continuing the recaps for the Kingdom Keepers books, here?s my recap of book three, Disney in Shadows. The book starts out with Finn and Maybeck running through the Magic Kingdom while being chased by pirates and Stitch! They have been looking for Wayne because he has mysteriously gone missing. The Kingdom Keepers have been looking through the parks, but Jez has a ?dream of the future,? a clue that leads them to Disney?s Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Soon the kids meet Wanda, who they learn is Wayne?s daughter. While finding an interesting clue, the kids are led to the rides Soarin? and Maelstrom at Epcot.

Following their new clues, they are led Mission Space, where they watch a prerecorded message from Wayne. He then gives them one of the greatest clues of all: the sword in Norway. Maybeck and Philby are soon sent to Norway to retrieve the sword. They soon find out that the Overtakers base is Fantasmic at Disney?s Hollywood Studios. The show was about to start in five minutes and the Kingdom Keepers wanted to compromise it, because Maleficent planned to make the show go wrong. Maleficent fell through a trap door and escaped, while Chernabog, disguised as a dragon, was defeated and captured. Unfortunately, they did not discovered Wayne?s location.

Power Play is the title of Kingdom Keepers 4. The book starts off at DisneyQuest in Downtown Disney. Finn, Amanda and Charlene were trying to avoid Greg Luowski, a ninth grade bully who goes to the same school as Finn. Finn and Greg don?t get along very well. After fleeing from Greg, they went to the coaster simulator to experience the coasters they designed. Charlene likes coasters that are very fast and dangerous, but she accidentally switched that coaster design with the one for Finn and Amanda (who don?t enjoy coasters that much). When they got on, Finn and Amanda nearly died from the coaster that Charlene designed, blaming Amanda for the incident. Afterwards, they spotted the Evil Queen and Cruella De Vil. They quickly warned the other Keepers about the Overtakers at DisneyQuest, and they fled the scene.

At school, just when things were getting back to normal, Philby received a Skype chat video with Wayne, but the one thing that didn?t make sense was how Wayne could breach the school firewall. Wayne warned Philby that Wanda, his daughter, had been arrested. The reason for this surprising turn of events was that Wayne could not show himself in public, so Wanda had to run his ?errands.? The reason for this arrest was because she was trying to locate and possibly infiltrate the Overtakers? secret base. Just before she could learn the truth, she was arrested by the police for hacking into Disney?s computer mainframe.

Yet another surprising situation is that Charlene had strangely ?crossed over? into Epcot as a DHI. Philby soon detected her DHI in Epcot and sent Finn and Maybeck to rescue and ?return? her. Fortunately it was a success. Strangely, the same thing happened to Willa. After searching and searching for a way to return, Willa was ambushed by more Overtakers ? Judge Frollo and a squad of Green Army Men! After jumping into Echo Lake she was then rescued by Ariel. After fleeing Disney?s Hollywood Studios and entering Epcot she went to where the fob was that would return her back, but it was missing! After leaking sensitive information from Jess? ?dreams? she was rescued by the other Keepers ? Finn and Maybeck. Later Finn had received a odd 3-D hologram transmission and learned that he must kiss Amanda. After doing this she had strangely fallen asleep and couldn?t wake up. After finding a set of clues they were led to the waterwheel on Tom Sawyer Island and accompanied by Minnie and Pluto. It was here that they were able to break the sleeping curse that Amanda was under. After they revived Amanda, they learned about the Overtakers current goal ? to take control of the Disney power plant. The reason for this is that control of the power plant = control of the parks.

The Evil Queen and Cruella de Vil are working on a plan to cause a power outage at Disney, that will unlock the prison cells that are holding Chernabog and Maleficent. The Kingdom Keepers are quick to react, but they are too late. Chernabog and Maleficent both escape!

After the breakout, the Kingdom Keepers learn that the person in Jess? dreams is Captain Roseman of the Disney Magic, one of Disney?s cruise ships. At the end, Ariel keeps the fob safe and returns the Kingdom Keepers. Now the Kingdom Keepers realize that the Overtakers intend to capture the Disney Magic, and find Mickey Mouse, who is missing! The Adventures will continue in book five ? Shell Game, which will come out April 3rd. I can?t wait!!!!!!!!!

?

Here?s my trivia question ? what was Walt Disney?s first movie?

Jonah lives in Virginia, and considers himself the biggest Disney ?maniac? in his family.? He has been going to Walt Disney World since he was 8 months old, and he still loves it to this day.? He is 11 years old and in 5th grade.

99% A Separation

All Critics (134) | Top Critics (38) | Fresh (133) | Rotten (1) | DVD (2)

Dynamically shot and paced like a thriller, the film has the density and moral prickliness of a good novel.

These people seem so real they might live next door. And they probably do.

Very few movies capture as convincingly as A Separation does the ways in which seemingly honorable decisions can lead to interpersonal conflict -- even disaster.

To say the piercing Iranian film A Separation is about divorce is a bit like saying The Wizard of Oz is about a pair of slippers.

"A Separation" moves beyond one couple's sundering marriage to reveal growing rifts between generations, ideologies, religious mind-sets, genders and classes in contemporary Iran.

"A Separation" is a great movie, a look inside a world so foreign that it might as well be another planet, yet so universal that its observations are painfully familiar to anyone, anywhere.

A clever, insightful and heartfelt examination of human frailty that makes watching subtitles seem like a breeze.

It's fast paced, exciting, thrilling, edgy, moving, engaging, and - in its portrait of a justice system almost radically alien to the one I live under - absolutely fascinating.

Although the film might serve as a portrait of Iran's two conflicting social groups as reflected in the Green movement/Ahmadinejad clashes, it is much more about moral contradictions that any society has to face. A masterpiece.

It's the little moments in Farhadi's film that are its most important, speaking every bit as loudly as its big, narrative-driving moments.

If any one film can re-inject life into an entire national cinema, it's A Separation.

You may also find that some aspects of this very foreign story seem disturbingly not all that foreign.

An outsider could see these characters as misguided. That's not the reality however. Farhadi slips us into their shoes and we appreciate each of their perspectives.

Asghar Farhadi has written a superb screenplay and directs it with equal brilliance. He has managed to make a film that says something about the state of affairs in his Iran and weaves that message into an engrossing tapestry of mystery and drama.

The complex realities of human emotions and experience are more than sufficient to carry a film, and Farhadi doesn't let fussy direction or attempts to be overly clever get in the way of letting this brilliant, quietly insightful story unfold.

A clarion cry that cuts through the xenophobic clutter and the dense fog of war to show that not everyone "over there" is a boogeyman waiting to jump out of the closet. If that sounds terribly simplistic, just consider where we live.

A Separation is more than a character study; it's a deftly plotted drama that unfolds layer after layer and will leave you asking all kinds of questions about your beliefs and moral judgments. Fascinating stuff.

The story has no winners, and the daringly ambiguous ending defies simple conclusions. Even the title can be taken multiple ways.

The movie opens the door on a foreign culture, yet the people do not seem that dissimilar. .... They deal with some of the same struggles ... -- generational and class conflicts, ideological differences, and connecting and communicating emotionally.

A devastating portrait of two families in crisis, with their class differences representing the title's true 'separation.'

"A Separation" deals with some very murky issues, but it does so with astonishing clarity.

The movie is a singular mix of the foreign and the familiar, but is it the best 2011 film in the whole wide world? A 99? I can't say that I concur with my colleagues on that score.

A Separation explores how presumed social norms are extremely tenuous and how threats to these almost illusory ideas can threaten our sense of personal security.

Farhadi does not talk down to his viewer, and he trusts his audience to make their own decisions.

Mozilla caves, will support H.264 to avoid 'irrelevance'

FirefoxIt looks like Mozilla is ready to throw in the towel in its battle against the patent-laden H.264 video codec. Over the last week or so, the software foundation has struggled publicly with whether or not to support the MPEG-LA-owned format. Now several of Firefox's biggest players have all come out in support of the move and all that's left is to actually bake the appropriate code into the browser. Both chairman Mitchell Baker and CTO Brendan Eich embraced the decision this weekend, however begrudgingly, in blog posts. Both admit that success in the mobile space requires them to abandon the quest to make WebM the standard for streaming video in HTML5. Even with Google's support, at least on the desktop, VP8 was never able to seriously threaten the entrenched and battery-friendly (not to mention, Apple and Microsoft backed) H.264. For more details check out the source links.

The Game Isn't Over till Microsoft Says It's Over | Maati

There were unconfirmed reports flying in the air, up until recently regarding Microsoft releasing a new gaming console. In fact, many were hoping that Microsoft would announce its new console this time around at this year?s E3 gaming expo.

In fact, we also discussed the very rumours currently under discussion. We informed you how the folks over? at MCV saying that their sources had confirmed that the next xBox would be optical-less. Here?s the quick recap for you.

According to the folks over at the?MCV, ?Although the console will not include a disc drive, it will offer compatibility with some sort of interchangeable solid-state card storage, although it is not known whether this will be proprietary or a more standard format such as SD.?

There were also rumours that the new Xbox would be called the Xbox 720. Recently Microsoft decided to put all the rumours to rest in an interview to Bloomberg. Microsoft said that its gaming console, the Xbox 360 still has that kick to go that extra mile. Hey, we hear you Microsoft ? we too think that the Xbox 360 has still got it.

Microsoft told Bloomberg (as cited by the friendly folks at The Next Web) that ?2012 is all about the Xbox 360.? With that Microsoft basically told its Xbox fans that the new console that you were, ?oh so expecting?, still has time to come and meet the gaming world.

That being said, this still is not confirmed whether or not the new console (that will be released whenever it will be released) will come without an optical disk ? had Microsoft done that, it would have definitely revolutionized the whole idea of gaming and consoles.

Here is Microsoft?s statement that was cited at Kotaku:

?While we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon. For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360-and it?s the best year ever for Xbox 360. The console is coming off its biggest year ever-a year in which Xbox outsold all other consoles worldwide. Xbox 360 didn?t just outsell other consoles, it also outsold all other TV-connected devices like DVD players, as well as digital media receivers and home theatre systems. And in our seventh year, we sold more consoles than in any other year-defying convention.

This year, we will build on that Xbox 360 momentum. With ?Halo 4,? ?Forza Horizon,? ?Fable: The Journey,? and other great Kinect games on the way, our 2012 Xbox lineup is our strongest ever. This year, we will deliver more TV, music, and movie experiences for Xbox 360-as we?ll make it even easier to find and control your all entertainment. And this year, Xbox games, music, and video are coming to Windows 8 so people can enjoy their Xbox entertainment wherever they go.?

(AP) ? Republican presidential hopefuls Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum are campaigning in next-up primary states of Illinois and Louisiana, while Puerto Ricans get their say in picking the GOP's presidential nominee.

Puerto Rico's residents cannot vote in general elections, but are set to award 20 delegates in their Sunday Republican primary.

Meanwhile, Romney was hoping to cement his lead in Illinois ahead of Tuesday's primary, with chief rival Santorum in Louisiana ahead of that state's vote on March 24.

The former Massachusetts governor and former Pennsylvania senator both campaigned in Puerto Rico ahead of the voting.

But Romney dramatically curtailed his trip to the U.S. territory Saturday in favor of spending more time in Illinois, where polls have shown him slightly ahead of Santorum.

Romney will also appear on "Fox News Sunday," in a rare showing on an in-depth Sunday interview show. Santorum is to appear on ABC's "This Week" in addition to four campaign stops in Louisiana.

At issue in Puerto Rico's primary is the island's political status ? statehood, independence or no change. Puerto Ricans will vote on that in November.

Romney has support from much of the establishment here, including Puerto Rican Gov. Luis Fortuno, who supports making the island the 51st state. Romney is confident about his prospects for winning many of the island's delegates.

Santorum has said he would support statehood if the November vote were decisive. He also has spent days explaining his comment that English would have to become the island's main language for Puerto Rico to realize statehood. Only a fraction of Puerto Rico's residents speak English fluently.

Puerto Rico's delegates will be split proportionally among the candidates, though if someone wins more than 50 percent of the vote they'll receive all the delegates.

Travel and Leisure with Southern Indiana's Brick Briscoe | 106.1 ...

by Mike Adams

Brick Briscoe is a composer, filmmaker and photographer. He sometimes writes things that have nothing to do with those things as well. Odds are you will cross his path sometime.

His new record, Travel and Leisure is his sixth LP and his fourth as a solo artist. Taking on the task of painting sound and song with the most electric, deep colors available isn?t something that just anyone should try at home but after testing the tides of both Los Angeles and New York City, Briscoe found both solace and fire in the soft rolling plains of Indiana. Home.

This soft-spoken yet hard-driven man still claims to be a fan first and foremost. Days of post-punk vinyl and the emerging indie film wave, CBGB?s, Wire, The Beautiful South, Gang of Four, The Jam, and Stan Ridgway have left an indelible mark. Those passing by the studio will also hear Mahler, Monk and the Mekons. His tastes are as eclectic as his releases.

In the recent past Brick has produced Molly D, Matt Sullivan, Machines from Birth, Denise Dill, Orenda, Namaste, dozens of commercials, a few EPKs for bands, photographed a slew of bands and clients and made a few feature documentary films.

If you find yourself lost, on the mean streets of Anywhere, USA, and are seeking a warm place to record and a cool glass of bourbon, Brick?s waiting on the porch. Although we hear he?s now on wine and scotch these days.

Briscoe will be performing an unplugged show Friday March 16, 2012 at The Cherry Ghost in Washington, Indiana, with multi-instrumentalist Ray Major to help promote his new record, Travel and Leisure. Briscoe has decided to perform some solo shows right off the top as a means to more economically hit the road.

?We did a band CD release show and I think the drummer chickened out when it became clear that there was going to be a demand for shows?, says Briscoe. ?I can?t waste time on it, it seems we found a replacement guy, but I had several shows re-booked as solos gigs. I have found that this particular instrumentation really fleshes out the songs. Ray fills in deftly where keyboards and another guitarist would be overkill.?

Briscoe explains that his new record, Travel & Leisure, is about recovery? ?It is really about feeling out of place and having a job like I have where no one really understands what you do,? says Briscoe. ?I think most people think I?m on vacation, but in actuality after speaking to people about these feelings I came to find out that everyone thinks they are out of place. So that?s it in a nutshell, folks looking how to fit into a world where no one does. We?re all just floating around hoping to meet someone in the hotel bar.?

Come out Friday night and enjoy this live, mostly acoustic performance featuring Brick Briscoe performing with multi-instrumentalist Ray Major on violin, viola, banjo and God knows what else at The Cherry Ghost Coffee House, 424 E. Main Street, Washington, IN, phone 812-486-7927. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.

Brick will be performing songs from each of his releases. The event will be filmed by Chicago?s Sureshot Productions for an upcoming Ustream event.

The show starts sometime after 8pm and before 8:30. Brick and Ray will play for around an hour or so. Rock-n-Roll time you know.

Killer silk: Making silk fibers that kill anthrax and other microbes in minutes

ScienceDaily (Mar. 14, 2012) ? A simple, inexpensive dip-and-dry treatment can convert ordinary silk into a fabric that kills disease-causing bacteria -- even the armor-coated spores of microbes like anthrax -- in minutes, scientists are reporting in the journal ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces. They describe a range of potential uses for this new killer silk, including make-shift curtains and other protective coatings that protect homes and other buildings in the event of a terrorist attack with anthrax.

Rajesh R. Naik and colleagues explain that in adverse conditions, bacteria of the Bacillus species, which includes anthrax, become dormant spores, enclosing themselves in a tough coating. These spores can survive heat, radiation, antibiotics and harsh environmental conditions, and some have sprung back to life after 250 million years. Certain chemicals -- most popular among which are oxidizing agents, including some chlorine compounds -- can destroy bacterial spores, and they have been applied to fabrics like cotton, polyester, nylon and Kevlar. These treated fabrics are effective against many bacteria, but less so against spores. The researchers tried a similar coating on silk to see if it could perform better against these hardy microbes.

They developed a chlorinated form of silk, which involves soaking silk in a solution that includes a substance similar to household bleach and letting it dry. Silk treated for just an hour killed essentially all of the E. coli bacteria tested on it within 10 minutes and did similarly well against spores of a close anthrax relative used as a stand-in. "Given the potent bactericidal and sporicidal activity of the chlorinated silk fabrics prepared in this study, silk-Cl materials may find use in a variety of applications," the authors say. Other applications, they add, include purifying water in humanitarian relief efforts and in filters or to mitigate the effects of toxic substances.

The authors acknowledge funding from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.

IDC: Android tablets reduced iPad dominance in fourth quarter

New figures from market analysis firm IDC suggest Apple?s seeming stranglehold on the tablet market may already have been broken by Android: the firm?s sales figures for the fourth quarter of 2011 find iOS devices ? e.g., the Apple iPad ? accounted for a mere 54.7 percent of the global tablet market, down from 61.6 percent in the third quarter of the year. IDC attributes this decline in Apple?s dominance of the tablet market to the success of Android devices, in particular Amazon?s Kindle Fire. IDC says Android?s share of the media tablet market rose from 32.3 percent in the third quarter of 2011 to 44.6 percent in the fourth quarter.

?Amazon?s widely-reported entry into the media tablet market with a $199, 7-inch product seemed to raise consumers? awareness of the category worldwide despite the fact that the Fire shipped almost exclusively in the U.S. in the fourth quarter,? said IDC research director Tom Mainelli, in a statement.

IDC does note that Apple managed to ship 110.5 percent more tablets in the fourth quarter of 2011 than they had in the year before; however, IDC puts the overall growth in the media tablet market at 155 percent year-on-year.

Perhaps the key phrase in IDC?s analysis is the phrase ?media tablet.? This includes not only things like the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and Motorola Xoom priced at $499 on up (which many consumers are increasingly turning as replacements for personal computers and notebooks), but also encompasses things like the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet and entry-level Android devices like those from PanDigital, which can start as low as $120 and are often essentially e-readers and media players with basic Web browsing and app capability. Devices like the iPad are increasingly being reviewed as PC replacements ? indeed, if iPads count as PCs, Canalys now ranks Apple is now the world?s biggest PC maker. It?s debatable whether high-end tablet devices like the iPad and Motorola Xoom (with their advanced hardware and broad app and content ecosystems) should be compared with pared-down, feature-and-performance-limited devices just because they share a form factor and an ability to display media.

Nonetheless, if IDC?s figures are accurate Amazon?s Kindle Fire has had a strong launch. Amazon never reveals sales figures for its Kindle line, but IDC reckons Amazon sold 4.7 million Kindle Fire tablets during the fourth quarter of 2011, which is enough to rocket the device into second place with 16.8 percent of the worldwide market for the quarter ? impressive since the bulk of those sales were limited to the United States. Samsung managed a third-place finish with 5.8 percent of the worldwide tablet market (a Samsung exec has admitted the company is ?not doing very well? at tablets), while Barnes & Noble actually saw its share slide from 4.5 percent to 3.5 percent. (Although to be fair, Barnes & Noble?s Nook line is currently limited to the United States.) PanDigital came in fifth with 2.5 percent of the market.

While Android may account for 44.6 percent of ?media tablets? sold in the fourth quarter of 2011, it and iOS seem to be the only games in town. BlackBerry saw its share slide from 1.1 percent to 0.7 from the third quarter to the fourth quarter, and HP?s cancelled-and-now-open-source webOS dropped from 5 percent of the world market to nothing.

Is there any room for creative writing in SEO?

For many the concept of writing creatively seems far away from SEO writing. A true writer might find it hard to see product descriptions, reviews and other promotional material as inspiration for creative writing. Well, if this is the case, then you might not yet be such a skilled writer because it is precisely the ability to write creatively about anything that makes it creative writing. If you can only write unique and inspiring text about your greatest passions you cannot really say that you are a creative writer!

SEO thrives on unique texts!

The webpages that can offer content that is original and interesting are loved both by people and search engines.

This is something that comes as a surprise to many. For sure, for the search engine robots to get what a website is about there needs to be a certain layout of each text but the robots of today are very sophisticated. They can tell in what style the text was designed, and if it is a general article or an in-depth study. These are things that will determine the priority this specific page will get in the search results.

Say the same, but differently

You will need the creative skills when you have to say the same thing one hundred times and yet make it feel as if you said it for the very first time. This can be a challenge and it demands a great command of synonyms and ways to say things. See if you can come up with 10 different words for snow?

An enjoyable job

When you see SEO and creative writing as a form of art the work is different.

You learn the frames for the keywords, paragraphing and other details and then you start the painting. As long as you offer the information asked for you will be in the game and if you do this in a colorful and exotic way you might even spread like wildfire. This is the beauty of creative SEO content.

So to answer that question, yes there is plenty of room to be unique and inspiring within promotional writing. If you find your niche and original style you will not only enjoy the job, you will also benefit greatly from it!

Post-exposure antibody treatment protects primates from Ebola, Marburg viruses

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Army scientists have demonstrated, for the first time, that antibody-based therapies can successfully protect monkeys from the deadly Ebola and Marburg viruses. In addition, the animals were fully protected even when treatment was administered two days post-infection, an accomplishment unmatched by any experimental therapy for these viruses to date. The work appears in this week's electronic edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The filoviruses, Ebola and Marburg, cause hemorrhagic fever with human case fatality rates as high as 90 percent. They are a global health concern and are considered potential biological threat agents. Currently there are no available vaccines or therapies approved for use in humans, making the development of such products a high priority.

In the article, John M. Dye, Andrew S. Herbert, William D. Pratt, and colleagues from the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) describe using antibody from monkeys that had previously survived challenge with lethal doses of filoviruses under controlled laboratory conditions. These survivors had developed high levels of antibody to ward off disease. Investigators collected blood serum from these animals, purified it and tested it for virus-neutralizing activity before commencing with their work.

In the first study, monkeys infected with Marburg virus were treated with antibody 15 to 30 minutes post-exposure, with additional treatments on days 4 and 8. The animals were completely protected, with no signs of disease or detectable levels of virus in their bloodstreams. Furthermore, all the monkeys generated an immune response to Marburg virus and survived subsequent re-challenge with the virus.

In the next set of studies, monkeys were infected with either Ebola or Marburg virus and treatments were delayed 48 hours, with additional treatments on days 4 and 8 post-exposure. The delayed treatments protected both sets of animals from challenge. In each group, two of the three animals had no clinical signs of illness following treatment, with the third developing mild symptoms followed by full recovery.

For nearly a decade, the filovirus research community has disregarded antibody-based therapies due to numerous failed attempts to protect monkeys against filovirus challenge, according to Dye.

"The use of antibodies as a treatment for infectious diseases is a well-established technology, with multiple products having received approval from the Food and Drug Administration," said Dye. "With these findings, we have provided proof-of concept that antibody-based therapies can indeed be used to effectively treat filovirus infections."

Dye said the USAMRIID team is hopeful that its work will open new avenues for development of filovirus therapies for human use.

Numbers spreadsheet for iPhone and iPad review

"Numbers for iPhone and iPad is a great way for casual users to manage spreadsheets but may not offer enough power for professionals... yet."
