Galapagos Islands Cruise Guide - Luxury Class

Article Directory :: Travel & Leisure Articles

So you've decided you want to go to the Galapagos Islands and you know the best way of seeing them is by going on a cruise. Once you start doing some research, you learn that there are many different classes of boats that you can choose to take. The following gives you an idea of what is involved with a luxury class cruise of the Galapagos Islands.

There's no question that this is the way to go if you can afford it. Luxury class yachts are like being in a 5-star hotel on the water. You won't be sacrificing a thing as you tour around the islands in style.

This is a trip that most people will only do once in their lifetime. That being the case, you want to make the best memories that you possibly can of the trip. Being comfortable and having great service is definitely a part of that.

As with any luxury accommodation, you will have a more comfortable and spacious room. Your private bathroom will have hot water. And there will be air conditioning that is guaranteed to work. Other amenities will depend on the vessel but may include television, jacuzzis, saunas, exercise equipment and more.

The yachts in this category range in size from small and intimate with just 8 double rooms to large enough to hold 100 passengers. The larger the vessel, the more people you can meet and interact with as well as the more activities that will be offered. Another plus with larger ships is that they may feel even more stable in the water for those who sometimes get queasy stomachs while at sea.

The food on any yacht in this category will be gourmet quality and the service should be first-rate. The crew to passenger ratio is often quite low so that you never have to wait to have your needs met. It's hard not to enjoy an experience when you are being so well catered to.

But really, despite wanting to enjoy your time in the water as much as possible, it's important not to forget the real reason you're here. You want to observe as much as possible of the flora and fauna that the islands have to offer and to learn about this environment. Therefore, the absolute most important aspect of the trip is your naturalist guide.

The reality is that, while you can get lucky on lesser class yachts, the best guides are usually to be found on the luxury class ones. These are the guides that not only know the area the best, they also generally have the best command of the English language.

Luxury yachts can differ in terms of their focus. For example, one may have a specific focus on scuba diving and other more active pursuits. They can also vary in terms of the type of passenger they typically attract. It's a good idea to try to get an idea about that before you commit to spending a week on board with them.

There are various ways in which to travel around the islands, and it is important to know which Galapagos Cruise suits you best. That said, without the right research you won't be able to find the best Galapagos Island cruise so look hard.
